To correct a problem with bad breath, proper oral hygiene is a must

Do you really keep track of how many times you brush your teeth per day to remove bad breath? For many of us, it is only something that we do in the morning whenever we wake up because our mouth tastes bad and we are usually dealing with morning bad breath. For others, they may carry a toothbrush with them wherever they go and they may find that they are brushing their teeth regularly after every meal. You might be surprised to find out that you are not brushing your teeth enough, or in the proper way if you do so regularly. This can cause a number of different problems including tooth decay and bad breath. If you would like to be able to correct a problem with bad breath, proper oral hygiene is a must.

The first thing that you should do is to make sure that you are brushing on a regular basis and that you are doing so properly. Many of us neglect areas of our mouth whenever we are brushing because we rush through the process. It is a good idea if you get an electric toothbrush and if you take a full minute brushing your teeth, making sure that you brush every area of the tooth, including the bottom and the backs. Although it is not necessary for you to brush your teeth in this way several times a day, it is a great way for you to start and end your day of oral hygiene.

Another thing that you should do regularly is to brush your tongue. Many people keep a toothbrush that is specific for this purpose and this is really a good idea. Brushing the bacteria off of your tongue is great but then brushing your teeth afterward may spread that bacteria around a little bit. Make sure that you keep a clean toothbrush available for this purpose and that you don't neglect to brushing your tongue as this is often where the bad breath stems from.

Finally, you want to make sure that you are flossing on a daily basis. Food that gets lodged in between the teeth is often the cause of our bad breath as well. Not only does it decay, which causes bad breath, it also allows bacteria to grow and causes tooth decay, two things which can certainly make our breath smell foul on a regular basis.
