Smoking – the Enemy of Your Breath

How many of us don’t realize that smoking is bad for us? Unfortunately, it is one of those habits that is so difficult to break that it really doesn’t matter how bad it is, breaking it is going to be a very long struggle. Unfortunately, smoking causes a lot more problems than the health problems that we are dealing with regularly. It may also create problems of a social type which include halitosis. If you’re dealing with bad breath because you smoke, here are some ways for you to take care of the problem.

Of course, the preferable way for you to be able to get rid of bad breath because you smoke is to quit smoking. If this is not a choice for you because you are unable or unwilling to quit, there are some things that you can do which will naturally get rid of the bad breath you’re experiencing. Try several of these because one may work better for you and your own individual chemical makeup than another. Once you find the one that works for you, make sure that you use it regularly and you won’t have to worry about offending people with your bad breath again.

The easiest way for you to get rid of the bad breath that is caused from smoking is to either chew gum or take breath mints on a regular basis. Unfortunately, this can cause problems of its own including tooth decay if it as a sugar-based gum or a wide variety of problems if the gum is sweetened by aspartame. It will certainly work in order to overcome the scent of smoke on your breath but it may have other problems that go along with it which are not favorable.

Something else that you may want to do is try brushing your teeth after you smoke a cigarette. It is a good idea for you to brush your teeth several times a day but if you are smoking 20 or more cigarettes a day, you certainly don’t want to brush your teeth that often. If you only have an occasional cigarette, simply go in to brush your teeth after you’re done and it should take care of the problem.

One final thing that you may want to try is chewing on herbs, such as peppermint after you have a cigarette. This may be a way for you to naturally get rid of the bad breath that you’re experiencing from your bad habit.
